Yesterday the weather behaved in Chesterton, Indiana and Mark Cusco Ailes and I had another successful book signing. My brother's two novels, One Magic Christmas & The Creator's Game, were the two hits of the book fair. At the next book fair we do in October, we possibly will have The Second Journey Into the Unknown with us. I'm hoping to have the last stories finished this week and the cover should be designed this week. Mark and I are working on a very hectic schedule for 2015. Mark's novel ,Heir to the Throne, will be finished and in print. We have our third horror anthology coming out. We will also be expanding into the Chicago book fair market.
2015 is an historic thirty year anniversary for me in the writing field. If you click on the Day It Rained Candy link on the left of my page, you will see pictures from my first published story from elementary school from 1985. I did get a ribbon for it. When I was going through all my old manuscripts, papers, and my school writing folder, I rediscovered this. My brother pointed out the fact that I wrote a story similar to the premise of Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. For The Second Journey Into The Unknown, Mark and I rewrote my 1994 published story Night of the Living Redheads. I'm going to work on writing a whole new story based on my 1985 The Day It Rained Candy. There is so much material that I wrote the past thirty years to fill several short story anthologies.
The short story Zombie Command, from the Zombie Command Antholgy, was written using the original chapter from the unpublished novel Power Command by Mark and I. I tried for a couple years to find a publisher for it, but it got rejected. Looking back, I can't believe I tried to get it published in the form that it was in. The novel was based on my childhood scifi series Power Force and one of Mark's old series. I was planning on rebooting the Power Force series next year, but that is being put on hold for my next project.
My next project is Karena: Anthology of a Teenage Witch. Karena was a short story from the first Journey Into the Unknown by Mark and I. This will be the sequel to that story. The novel will be split into four parts. Part one deals with the past during the Salem Witch Trials. Part two is an updated version of the original Karena story with more scenes and the parts I originally cut out of the story put back in. Part three deals with Karena, her son, and the coven she becomes part of. Part four deals with the aftermath of what happens after the fall of the coven. This is going to be a very epic good vs evil story. Karena is based off a girl that I used to work with. She turned her back on her religious upbringing when she realized she was a witch. Karena is one of my favorite stories I have ever written and I've been wanting to make a full novel out of that story ever since Journey was originally published by Weekland Press. I'm going to start writing it immediately after The Second Journey is completed in the next couple of weeks.
I have several short story outlines from what I call the Journey sessions and the Zombie Command sessions. The almost completed Zombie Hunter will be finished this year and put aside for Mark and my next horror anthologies. We have decided not to call it the Third Journey but come up with something very clever.
I hope to see everybody at Mark and I next appearance. Until then. Stay Scared.
