Welcome to my latest blog now on derekailes.com. I've come along way as a writer and now have my website on my own domain. So many changes are happening in my career. I'll be back on the road promoting all of my three horror collections along with all of the novels from my brother, Mark Cusco Ailes.
I recently completed a fantasy short story for the upcoming latest shortfictionbreak.com anthology along with the first chapter of a fantasy serial that will be featured on shortfictionbreak.com throughout the next several months. I recently finished watching all three seasons of the Beastmaster television series on DVD and was inspired to create my own fantasy world. The first novel "Beast Within" will be out later this year following the adventures of Rastus, The Guardian of the Animal Kingdom. The short story "A Spiritual Journey" available on the upcoming shortfictionbreak.com anthology will be the debut story of Rastus. The fantasy serial "Shelana's Quest" will involve two female elven warriors, Shelena and Melody, who must find a magic crystal to protect the animals of the forest from the evil orcs. Both of the two stories will introduce everybody to the world that "Beast Within" will take place in. I've never been so excited for a writing project before and have had so much fun writing the first stories for it.
To address all of my horror fans: Musings From a Demented Mind will come out the winter 2014/2015. You can read the first story "A Horror Story" for free right here on this website under the free short stories link. There is two completed stories so far with three unfinished and several outlines swimming around in my demented mind.
Mark and I are continuing to find new venues to sell all our novels at. We have multiple book fairs coming in the next few months. Here's where we will be next:
The Ailes Brothers of Terror are invading Portage Woodland Park on Sunday April 26 from 10-4. Authors Mark Cusco Ailes and Derek Ailes will be present with all their books. Come on out, meet the authors, and purchase autograph books.
I hope to see everybody there
Until next time,
